Leslie's Story

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

leslieLeslie K. Bedford had all the characteristics of a confident young woman who was well on her way to a bright future.  At the time of her death, she was 25 years of age and a senior at the University of Texas at Dallas.  She was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, a 911 Emergency Operator for the City of Dallas and a faithful member of the Marsalis Church of Christ.

Leslie's dream was to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration, but she never achieved her dream because she was murdered on September 11, 1992 during a car-jacking attempt when she stopped to pick-up a coworker in need of a ride to work.

Leslie had a big heart, a radiant smile and a selfless spirit. She generously shared these gifts with friends and loved ones that she mentored and encouraged to achieve their dreams. Although her caring voice was silenced and her dreams shattered, her legacy continues today through the hearts and hands of many caring people.

The founders, the Board and the many volunteers of the Leslie K Bedford Memorial Foundation are committed to continuing Leslie's legacy by reaching out to and helping other young women achieve their goals and dreams.
